LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Lubbock holds the second of two public hearings on the proposed tax rate. The hearing is Thursday morning at 7:30 in the City Council Chambers.
Officials have said the rate increase is only enough to cover items approved in the November 2009 bond election. Also on the City Council agenda for Thursday is an early pay-off of $8 million in old Lubbock Power & Light debt.
This is part of the preparation for LP&L's purchase Xcel Energy's consumer business inside the city limits.
