LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Governor Rick Perry made a stop in Lubbock Tuesday afternoon to announce a new incentive program that rewards school districts for saving money.
The incentive is for districts that combine payroll, accounting, and other services with other entities. Perry pointed out that many rural districts in our area already do this, and save 50 to 80 percent of what they had been paying individually.
Now he is encouraging more districts to combine these types of services. Participation is voluntary, but Perry says not only will districts keep the money they save, they will also be rewarded with 10 percent of that total by the state.
