LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) – We always knew it was healthy to eat fruits and veggies, but a new study gets more specific about the benefits and finding out that may reduce the risk of lung cancer, especially if you smoke. Researchers from the Netherlands looked at more than 450 thousand people. They focused on the 16 hundred who were diagnosed with lung cancer, and found that regardless of how much they ate, it was instead the variety of fruits and vegetables that seemed to help the most. Lung Cancer decreased the most, and this type of cancer is the most common among smokers. The American Cancer Society says the study is impressive, but warns there's still no better way to fight lung cancer than to avoid smoking altogether.
