LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD)– A Lubbock man was arrested Wednesday morning in Hale Center after being accused of trying to obtain nude pictures of a 7 year-old girl and asking to have sex with her.

Hale Center Police along with the Texas Rangers, and Hale County Sheriff's Deputies set up a sting Wednesday morning and arrested 25-year-old Landon Quinn Wright of Lubbock after he tried to exchange money for what he thought were pictures of the seven year old girl.

Hale Center Police Chief Terry Timms said the investigation first started Monday after a woman called police saying a man wanted pictures of her daughter.  "She had met a gentleman on the phone through Livelinks or some type of phone dating service and with an hour of their conversation he had solicited sexual photographs of her seven year old daughter," said Timms.

As the investigation progressed, Wright requested to have sex with the child, in addition to purchasing the photographs. Less than 36 hours later the sting was set up and Wright agreed to pick up the non-existent photographs of the girl.

"We're extremely fortunate for this to have happened the way that it did, a lot of times this goes unreported. They'll just terminate the conversation or relationship period and go about their business," said Timms.

He was arrested and taken to the Hale County Jail and his initial bond was set at $50,000. Wright is charged with attempted sexual performance of a child. The 2nd degree felony is punishable by a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and a $10,000 fine. The investigation continues.

Agencies involved in the joint investigation include the Texas Rangers, Hale Center Police Department, Hale County District Attorney's Office, Hale County Sheriff's Office and the Hale County Constable Pct. 1 Office. Hale County is located just north of Lubbock County.
