The new price of parking for Texas Tech football

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Texas Tech football fans can expect some changes when it comes to parking on game day.  Nearly 60,000 people are expected to pile into the Jones for the season opener, which comes Sunday September 5th instead of Saturday.

Texas tech officials say give yourself plenty of time to park before kickoff.  A few streets near the stadium will be temporarily shut down for an event called the Raider walk, which starts at 12:15.

A map released last week by Texas Tech shows the spots shaded in blue around the United spirit arena that used to be free.  Now  it will cost $10-dollars to park there.  The areas in red and yellow are for RV's.  The purple area can be used either for car or RV parking.

Free parking is now offered west of University Medical Center.  You can take a shuttle to the stadium, but that ride will cost you 5 dollars.
