LUBBOCK COUNTY, TX (KCBD) - A Petersburg teenager lost her life early Sunday morning in a one-vehicle rollover along County Road 5300, just east of County Road 3600. The crash site is about 8 miles north and two miles east of Idalou. DPS identifies the victim as Cecilia Perez-Sanchez, 18, of Petersburg, who was the driver of a 2004 Ford Explorer.
Her passenger, Andrea White, 17, of Petersburg walked from the crash site to a residence where she called for help at 1:15 AM. EMS took her to Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock with moderate injuries.
DPS says Perez-Sanchez was traveling east bound on CR 5300 at a high rate of speed, lost control, and rolled the vehicle several times. Investigators are looking at both speed and alcohol as possible factors.
DPS says Perez-Sanchez and White did wear their seat belts.
