Posted: Updated:

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - The Sunday evening fire that sent one woman to the hospital has been ruled an arson. At this time, the Lubbock Fire Marshal's office cannot release any details on why they determined it arson.

The fire started around 6 p.m. Sunday in the 1700 block of East 28th Street. The woman inside the home, Yolanda James, escaped and was taken to the hospital for precautionary measures for smoke inhalation. She has since been treated and released from the hospital. There was no one else in the home at the time of the fire.

The home sustained extensive smoke damage and one room was destroyed.

Investigators are asking anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the neighborhood at the time of the fire to call the Fire Marshal's Office at 775-2646 or Crime Line at 741-1000.
