Sheriff says father-in-law shoots son-in-law, Bailey County

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - A Bailey County man is accused of shooting his son in law Sunday.  Valdo Perez, 67, turned himself in Sunday to the Muleshoe police chief after two altercations between himself and Daniel Cardon, 47, of Dumas. 

Sheriff Richard Wills says officers were called to the Perez residence early Sunday morning for a disturbance but Cardon had left before officers arrived.  Deputies were called a out a second time after Cardon returned to the residence along Highway 84 less than a mile west of Muleshoe and there was a second altercation.  This time the Sheriff says Perez shot Cardon one time with a handgun. 

Cardon was airlifted to University Medical Center in Lubbock however the Sheriff says he since been released from the hospital.  Perez was charged with Aggravated Assault With A Deadly Weapon, posted bond, and was released Sunday from the Bailey County jail.
