LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - We have new details in the suspension of a Lubbock High School Coach. Trenton Nickerson, 23 is on administrative leave pending the outcome of a Lubbock Police investigation.

According to police, Nickerson's house caught fire around 11:30 p.m. Friday. The fire department responded to the home near 57th and Elgin Avenue. According to the police report, while searching the house, fire fighters found several marijuana plants in a bedroom.  That report says the suspect was located and released pending the filing of charges.

Lubbock ISD Superintendent Karen Garza tells KCBD that Nickerson is a first year coach and social studies teacher at Lubbock High. He's also a former Texas Tech football player. Garza says as soon as they were made aware of the situation, they placed Nickerson on leave as is their policy.

Police say warrants are being issued for Nickerson and his roommate Christopher Scott. We'll continue to follow this story and bring you the latest details as we uncover them.
