LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) – Roughly 27,000 South Plains families are getting a check in the mail, thanks to a record-high refund from the South Plain Electric Cooperative. SPEC announced Thursday it would refund $3.5 million, which is "$10 or more" for cooperative members. Checks are being mailed out between now and September 14th, according to a written statement.
"Because of the current economic environment, we expect our members will be very happy to receive these checks," says SPEC General Manager James Driver.
The SPEC written statement says, "if the capital credits refund is less than $10, the refund will be a credit on the member's September bill."
