Cowboy Symposium continues today

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - The 22nd Annual National Cowboy Symposium & Celebration and National Championship Chuck Wagon Cook-Off continues Saturday and Sunday at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center.

The Schedule for Saturday events are as follows:

  • 9 a.m. - 7 p.m. Exhibits and Western Items for sale inside the Civic Center Exhibit Hall and Pedestrian Mall
  • 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Concurrent Sessions of poetry, music, stories, papers, panels and special presentations inside the Civic Center
  • 10 a.m. Western Heritage History Session: Topics range from the history of individual ranches and the ranching industry to women of the west, the development of cowboy poetry, and movie stars. Everyone is invited to join this session to learn more about American Western Heritage, in Civic Center Room 107 (just off the south Pedestrian Mall)
  • 10 a.m. - Parade of the Horse
  • 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Quanah Parker Society Native American Activities in the park north of the Civic Center along Avenue O between Marsha Sharp Freeway and Mac Davis Lane
  • 11 a.m. Special Presentation: Western Trails Panel, in the Civic Center Banquet Room 2
  • 11 a.m. - Horse Demonstrations by the Four Sixes Ranch in the park north of the Civic Center
  • Noon - 1 p.m. National Championship Chuck Wagon Cook-Off
    CHUCK WAGON LUNCH - wagon prepared meals are available to the public! Meal and Musical entertainment in the park located north of the Civic Center
  • Noon - 1:30 p.m. LUNCH - BBQ Brisket Sandwich with beans and Iced Tea. Musical entertainment and volunteer awards will be in the park north of the Civic Center.
  • 1 p.m. Special Presentation - Quanah Parker Family
  • 1 p.m. Youth Contest Awards Presentation, in Civic Center Room 107 (just off the south Pedestrian Mall)
  • 2 p.m. Special Presentation - A Tribute to Marty Robbins, In the Civic Center Theatre
  • 2:30 p.m. Western Heritage History Session: Join this session to learn more about American Western Heritage, in Civic Center Room 107 (just off the south Pedestrian Mall)
  • 3 p.m. Horse Demonstrations by the Four Sixes Ranch in the park north of the Civic Center
  • 3:30 p.m. Will Rogers Memorial Trick Roping Demonstration, in the Civic Center Banquet Room 1
  • 4 p.m. Western Heritage History Session: Join this session to learn more about American Western Heritage, in Civic Center Room 107 (just off the south Pedestrian Mall)
  • 5 p.m. Special Presentation - Movie and TV Panel, in Civic Center Room 107 (just off the south Pedestrian Mall)
  • 5 p.m. National Championship Chuck Wagon Cook-Off Awards, at the Outdoor Stage in the park north of the Civic Center
  • 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. Evening Performance in the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center Theatre

Sunday, September 12th Events (only in the park north of the Civic Center - There are no activities inside the Civic Center on Sunday.)

  • 7:30 a.m. - 9 a.m. Chuck Wagon Breakfast and performance by The Cowboy Review
  • 9:30 a.m. - 11 a.m. Cowboy Devotional Service - Western music & poetry by scheduled performers and devotional service by Dr. Steven Spalding, Lebanon, MO
