LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Lubbock sales tax numbers are a mixed bag. The latest numbers Thursday from the state Comptroller show Lubbock sales tax receipts for September are down 2.48% when compared to September of 2009. But the good news is that Lubbock sales taxes for 2010 as a whole are up one third of one percent, even as Texas cities on average are collecting less sales tax money.
By comparison Lubbock County is down more than 5% for September and down nearly 1% for the year. Sales tax numbers are an important indicator of local economic health.
