Teen awake and alert after being hit by truck near Abernathy

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Miraculously, a 14-year-old girl escapes critical injury after she is hit by a truck and thrown roughly 20 feet.

DPS Troopers say the girl and her family were parked close to the road about two miles west of the Interstate near Abernathy on FM 597. They were out of their car taking pictures of land they were interested in buying.

A man in a construction pickup slowed down as he passed, but for some reason, the girl darted out in front of him. The teen was awake and alert as EMS took her to Covenant.

KCBD NewsChannel 11 is still waiting for more information from DPS Investigators as well as her name and condition.
