LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - We move closer to Saturday's big game as #6 Texas comes to town for the Big 12 opener against the Red Raiders. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Jones AT&T stadium.
Last time UT came to Lubbock, Texas Tech fans stormed the field.
The undefeated Red Raiders trailed Texas and Graham Harrell hit Michael Crabtree who broke free and got in the end zone for the game winning touchdown with a mere second left.
Coach Tuberville holds that game in a high class. "I watched this game a couple of years ago on TV," said Texas Tech head coach Tommy Tuberville. "When Tech won this game it was probably the game of the decade to me in college football, outstanding play on both sides of the ball, and very thrilling a lot of excitement. Hopefully we have a lot of the same things in this game coming up."
"I hope everyone comes out early, is loud, and stays late," said Texas Tech inside receiver Austin Zouzalik." Just like the 2008 game, everybody that was there realizes just how crazy it was. It probably got in Texas' heads, and hopefully everyone comes out and recreates the same atmosphere."
"I watched it, I was here at the 2008 game," said Texas Tech defensive back Will Ford. "I really liked what I saw, and I plan on repeating that. We want to try and get that W because we don't plan on losing."
With the big game Saturday, I beat Pete at 10 p.m. on KCBD NewsChannel 11 Sports on Wednesday is a Bevo Blaster challenge as we take aim at UT's mascot using water balloons from 20 to 50 yards away. It was like kicking a field goal. It was the idea of the folks at Turning Point Community Church.
