Showdown at City Hall between LP&L and City Council

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Wednesday afternoon, the Lubbock Power and Light Board unanimously decided to write a $3 million check to the City of Lubbock to move past the street light controversy.

During Wednesday's discussion, board members agree that paying for the street lights does not have anything to do with the LP&L budget.

Among the recommendations, the board wants to work with City Council to make sure situations like this do not happen again in the future.

The board wants the city to take over their own street lights, including maintenance and paying for the electricity.

The board's recommendation goes to City Council Thursday morning.

KCBD NewsChannel 11 will be in the City Council meeting Thursday morning and will bring you the latest as it becomes available.
