On Tuesday, Boren says he has been taking phone calls from citizens in support of his proposed resolution, called 'Truth in Taxation.' "I've had overwhelming response from concerned citizens senior citizens, retired people home owners, all concerned with what they can do how I can help them, so we've been pretty busy today," said Boren.
Fearing a higher property appraisal would lead to higher taxes, more than a thousand lubbock homeowners have protested this year's appraisals. But Boren says raising taxes based on those appraisals is just not fair.
Boren will bring the Truth in Taxation resolution before the Lubbock City Council on Thursday. He hopes this resolution will pass the city and will be addressed in a special legislative session by the state this fall.
