Excitement brewing in the air for the anticipation of Tech vs. UT game

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) – Raiderville is gone, but the camping hasn't stopped as excited Red Raider fans are taking over parking lots across Lubbock.

Devoted fans have parked their RVs and staked their claim early this year for a spot to tailgate before Saturday's big match up between Texas Tech and Texas. "We've been out here since Wednesday," said Tech fan Eric Davila. "We're just hanging out saving a space because it's getting kind of hectic out here."

They've had bad weather. "Last night wasn't too good. It rained a bit and we had to stay in the truck," said Davila. They've had lots of food. "We have sausage, some chicken, and we're doing a fish fry," said Tech fan David Chavez. But they haven't had a whole lot of sleep. "We put this brisket in at seven this morning. It's been tough but it's worth it," said Chavez.

Many of these excited fans who have camped out for days don't even have tickets to the game, but they say they do it for their love of the Red Raiders. "It's the Red Raiders, I mean that's my home town, you have to represent and be behind them 100%," said Davila.

Tailgating in Tech parking lots will open up to regular vehicles beginning tomorrow at 7:30 a.m.
