The Jones is sold out; watch out for fake tickets

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Many of the tailgaters in Lubbock don't have tickets to the Tech vs. UT game. 60,454 people will pack the Jones, and if you are still searching for a ticket, there is some information that you might want to know.

The only place you will find a ticket for Saturday's sold-out match up is online, and if you're not careful, it could cost you.

You can find tickets on websites like Facebook, E-bay and Craigslist. The prices range from $100 to $200 per ticket, all the way up to $1,100 for a pair. Don't forget, this time two years ago, eager fans after a seat at the last minute bought what they thought looked like legitimate tickets.

"Counterfeiters came into Lubbock and basically papered some areas around town with fake tickets, people paid close to $200 a ticket. Our scanners picked it up immediately and a lot of people got ripped off and that's the last thing we want to see happen again," said Dave Welch at the Tech ticket office.

The ticket office says counterfeit tickets are almost identical to the real thing, and you won't know until it is too late at the gate.
