Agriculture Commissioner Markets Texas Towns For Economic Growth

"Rural Texas is the place to be." That's the message Texas Agriculture Commissioner Susan Combs is trying to get across in a new marketing tour across the state, called "Texas Yes".

Combs unveiled the plan in Lubbock Wednesday. She says the idea is to share economic development success stories in areas of Texas that are seeing population and employment opportunities dwindle.

Combs wants to push support and growth for these areas. Both State Representative Delwin Jones and Senator Robert Duncan were at Wednesday's launch and endorse the program. "You don't have to stay in Dallas, Houston or San Antonio or even Austin very long to really appreciate the quality of life we have here in West Texas," said Senator Duncan.

The tour kicks off in October and will include five towns with populations of less than 20,000. The towns have yet to be picked.
