LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Good news for one of Lubbock biggest employers; Xfone, which is parent company of NTS, gets federal approval for $36 million to build high speed Internet. This particular federal funding is for a project in southern Louisiana. A little more than half of the money is a federal loan. The rest is a federal grant. The Louisiana project is similar to the NTS projects in Wolfforth and Levelland in that it involves FTTP or fiber to the premise. FTTP means hooking up homes and businesses directly to fiber optic cable.
