The 9th annual hub city barbecue cook-off causes road closures

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Are you looking to find the some of the best barbeque in West Texas? Your chance is here at the 9th Annual Hub City BBQ Cook-off, presented by Suddenlink West Texas, to be held Thursday, September 23, in downtown Lubbock.

Enjoy mouth-watering West Texas BBQ, live music with the Kinky Wizards performing, and great networking.

The event will be open to the public from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Thursday evening in front of the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce offices at Broadway and Avenue L.

Tickets for the Barbecue Cook-Off at the door, AFTER Tuesday, September 21st until DAY OF EVENT is $20.00 each.

Street Closures for Hub City BBQ Cook-off on September 22 and 23

LUBBOCK, TX - The following downtown streets will be closed for the 9th Annual Hub City BBQ:

  • Broadway from Avenue Q to Avenue O
  • Main Street from Avenue Q to Avenue O
  • Avenue O between Broadway and Main Street

These streets are scheduled to be closed from 6 a.m. Wednesday, September 22, until 7 a.m. Friday, September 24. This will impact eastbound and westbound traffic on Broadway and Main streets between Avenue Q and Avenue O, and northbound and southbound traffic on Avenue O near the Wells Fargo Center. Travelers who frequent this area are urged to take alternate routes on Wednesday and Thursday.

This closure has been approved by the City of Lubbock and the Chamber currently holds all appropriate permits to do so.
