LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) – The diabetes drug Avandia will no longer be widely available in the U.S. or Europe. Today, the Food and Drug Administration decided to severely restrict the drug, which allowing only patients with Type 2 diabetes who have no other treatment options. Because the drug has long been linked to an increased risk for cardiovascular problems. Regulators were even tougher in Europe, simply putting a halt to all use of the drug over there.
