Showers slow Fair attendance; 18 & under free Sunday

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Showers on the South Plains Friday night kept some folks from heading out to the fair. Organizers blame the rain for low attendance numbers on opening day. Numbers are down 10 percent compared to opening day last year.

Three thousand four hundred people came out to the Fair Park Coliseum for Friday night's concert. Organizers at the South Plains Fair tell us they were thankful to see the sun come out Saturday afternoon and hope for sunny skies the next 8 days.

Meanwhile, you can ride & roam around the fair Sunday for a good cause. A portion of the proceeds made Sunday will go to the South Plains Food Bank. You can buy a ride wristband for $40 dollars, and get a second band free.

Also, everyone under 18 will get in free Sunday until 9 p.m. Teachers will also get in free with their teachers ticket.
