Lubbock High coach cleared of drug charges

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - A Lubbock High School coach and teacher is now cleared of all charges. Fire fighters discovered marijuana in his home earlier this month when they were called to a fire there.

On Tuesday, a Lubbock County grand jury decided there was not enough evidence to pursue charges against 23-year-old Trent Nickerson. Nickerson shared the home with roommate Christopher Andrew Scott. Scott was indicted on drug charges by the same grand jury that cleared Nickerson.

Lubbock ISD put Nickerson on paid leave shortly after the fire in his home.  On Wednesday Lubbock ISD Superintendent Karen Garza told KCBD NewsChannel that Nickerson remained on paid administrative leave however, "We are still working on it," Garza said in a text message.
