Child Abandoned After Botched Shoplifting Scheme

One week after a 7-year-old Sugar Land girl was abandoned during a botched shoplifting scheme. No one has come to claim her.

Police say three women and the little girl attempted to steal a basket of items, when the store manager captured the child. Instead of coming to her rescue, the girl was left behind. She has been in foster care ever since.

Police are looking for Maria Reyes, who is believed to be the child's mother.
