Big 12 football schedules released for 2011 and 2012 seasons

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - The Big 12 Conference, and its future 10 member institutions, unveiled league football schedules for the 2011 and 2012 seasons as the conference becomes the first in major college football to play a round-robin format.

The conference schedule that is being announced is tentative, as the Big 12 television partners will begin the process of arranging games to fit into the month of September, on Thursday nights and possibly for the first weekend in December.

Texas Tech will tentatively kick-off the conference season with a road game at Kansas on Oct. 1 before returning home for a pair of games against Texas A&M (Oct. 8) and Kansas State (Oct. 15). For the first time in Big 12 play, Texas Tech will face Oklahoma and Texas on the road in odd years and will play both schools at home in even years. Tech will travel to Oklahoma on Oct. 22 and Texas on Nov. 5 while separating the two with a home game against Iowa State on Oct. 29. Texas Tech's final conference home game will come against Oklahoma State on Nov. 12 while the Red Raiders will travel to Missouri (Nov. 19) and Baylor (Nov. 26) to end the season.
