LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) – A Levelland family says Ruben Flores was falsely accused in a drive by shooting Monday. Police quote witnesses as saying someone drove past a house at Austin & Avenue A and fired shots. As a matter of fact police say the suspect reloaded, drove by again and fired a second time. No one was hurt.
Since then Flores, 31, was arrested on a charge of Assault With A Deadly Weapon.
His sister, Corina Flores, says "And for my brother Ruben Flores, they're falsely accusing him of shooting them, and he never did anything. It was them all along."
Corina Flores says police singled out her brother because they're biased against her family. Police Chief Toney Cowan says "no, that's not true." He describes the evidence as "rock solid".
He says a second suspect is likely to be charged and arrested.
