LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Three South Plains companies were fined by the TCEQ or Texas Commission On Environmental Quality.  Commissioners approved the fines this previous week.

A company called Brownfield Farmer's Inc. was fined $928 after someone complained about its processing of liquid fertilizer at 102 West Avenue in Levelland.  Specifically, someone complained about bad smells.  Brownfield Farmers admitted no wrongdoing but agreed to pay the fine for exceeding the terms of its air quality permit.

Plainview BioEnergy four miles southwest of Plainview agreed to pay $2,928 for operating a wastewater treatment facility on an expired license.

And a company called BOPCO Inc. agreed to pay $1,600 for failing to get authorization before operating a petroleum tank battery near Sundown in Hockley County.
