Warrant reveals violent past of Lubbock murder suspect

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Court records show the teenager accused of killing another man outside a Lubbock bar has a history of violence.  Renee Valencia, 19 is charged with murder for the shooting death of Zachary Matta, 22 outside the Daiquiri Lounge early Sunday morning.

A warrant released this week also shows police arrested Valencia last month, after witnesses reported that he beat-up his girlfriend outside Club Heaven, which is next to the Daiquiri Lounge. The affidavit states that witnesses saw Valencia punch and kick the girl in the head.

Police arrested him for assault, but they also discovered cocaine in his pocket. A warrant was issued for drug possession.
