Section of Woodrow Road to be closed to all traffic

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - A section of Woodrow Road from US 87 to Loop 493 will be closed to all traffic beginning Monday night, October 11th.

The closure will allow work crews to make safety improvements to the roadway.

This section of Woodrow Road is scheduled to be closed for about three weeks. Woodrow Road motorists will be detoured around the work area via Loop 493 and US 87.

The $567,294 project is being funded through the federal Hazard Elimination and Safety Program and state funds. It will make safety improvements to the US 87 and Woodrow Road intersection including the installation of traffic signals, adding left and right turn lanes to both north- and southbound US 87, adding through-traffic and dedicated turn lanes to Woodrow Road, and the installation of a vehicle detection system designed to improve traffic flow through the area.

The project is expected to be completed in February 2011.
