LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - A collision in south Lubbock turned deadly Tuesday evening. Police say two people died when an SUV collided with motorcycle on south University Avenue.

Police did not immediately release the names of the victims, pending notification of their family. They tell us a 41-year-old woman and a 49-year-old man were riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle north on University when a Chevrolet Tahoe hit them around 7:20 p.m.

Police say the Tahoe was headed south on University when the driver turned and collided with the motorcycle.  "It was attempting to turn onto 87th, apparently failed to yield the right of way to the motorcycle and collided there in the intersection," Lubbock Police Captain Scott Hudgens said.

EMS took the driver of the Tahoe, Candice Fox, 24 to the hospital for evaluation. They say the people on the motorcycle were not wearing helmets. Traffic in the area was moved to the southbound lanes as police investigated. We'll continue to follow this story and get you the names of the victims as soon as they're released.
