Covenant Children's Hospital Receives High Honors

Covenant Children's Hospital has become the first Level II Trauma Pediatric Center in Texas and only the third one of its type in the country. Key elements of a Level II Trauma Center include 24 hour coverage by general surgeons as well as specialists in orthopedic surgery, neuro-surgery, anesthesiology, emergency medicine, radiology, and critical care.

Steve Janta with the Texas Department of Health says this is a great honor for Covenant, "The importance of this is that the Children's Hospital has really stepped out there and maintained its performance to national standards and the standards that the independent surveyors say that this facility meet or exceed is the equivalent of this hospital coming home with a gold medal."

Covenant was verified by the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma. Covenant Medical Center is also a Level II Trauma Center.
