LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) –Did you know that MHMR provides a program to help people break loose of an opiate addiction? They give them methadone, a drug replacement therapy to help ease the symptoms of withdrawal over a period of time.
Nigel Torres, a chemical dependency counselor says, that this is the answer for many who have developed a drug habit or become addicted to prescription pain killers, and cannot quit on their own.
However, he says, it's not a quick fix. "This treatment is a long term treatment," he explains. "Most individuals, when they come to us, I let them know that they can expect at least a year of treatment." If you would like more information about MHMR's Methadone Treatment Program, call 740-1420.
