LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) – If you think it's hard to read and understand food labels. The Institute of Medicine is trying to cut the confusion. After analyzing several nutrition rating systems, the Institute has come up with this suggestion to food makers to help consumers. They say just put the calories, saturated fat, trans fat, and sodium in plain sight, which is right on the front of package. Those four factors contribute the most to obesity and heart disease. This is just a suggestion, and it hasn't become a rule.
