Lubbock County Commissioners also have voted to create a new position to handle county elections, removing the responsibility from the county clerk. "I believe that getting the election and voter registration and anything to do with elections out from under a politically affiliated title will be a big benefit for everyone," said Doris Ruff, Lubbock County Clerk.
The new title will be County Elections Administrator, and it will be a year-round position. The election commission will oversee the position and finalize the job description. The new administrator should be in place by the beginning of the new fiscal year, October 1st.
