Howl-o-ween comes early for Lubbock K-9's

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - The 6th Annual Dog Day Howl-o-ween costume contest for dogs is Saturday, October 16th.

Registration begins at 10 a.m. at the Maxey Park volleyball court and judging begins at 10:30 a.m.  Judges will be on hand to award prizes to the best-dressed dogs for owners in youth, teen/adult categories, plus a special category for dressed up dogs and owners. The cost to register is $1 per dog and free to the public.

The Maxey Park volleyball court is north of the Maxey Community Center at 30th Street and Oxford Avenue. Dogs must be on leash at all times and have current vaccinations. In case of rain, the event will move into the Social Hall in Maxey Community Center. Participants can register in advance at Maxey Community Center or on the day of the event.     The Slaton Fire Department has confirmed to KCBD they responded to a mobile home fire in southeast Lubbock around 1:30 Friday morning. Buffalo Springs and Woodrow also responded to the scene. The Lubbock County Sheriff's Office says they will provide more information on the incident at 8:00 am.
