CDC recommends flu shot for everyone over 6 months of age

Posted: Updated:

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - This year, for the first time, the Centers for Disease Control is recommending the flu vaccine for everyone over six months of age.

The dose now includes the H1N1 or "swine flu" vaccine, so you only need one, except for children under 9 who may need a booster shot.

The City of Lubbock Health Department is making it easy to vaccinate your children. On October 19th, they will offer free flu shots to the first 35 customers or from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., whichever comes first, at the Patterson Library in Lubbock.

The shots are available to children up to 18 years of age. Shots will not be given without the child's complete shot record.

The Patterson Library is located at 1836 Parkway Dr.
