South Plains College hosts groundbreaking on new residence hall

LEVELLAND, TX (KCBD) - South Plains College in Levelland broke ground Tuesday on a new residence hall.

The 104 bed facility should be completed by the fall of next year, but students aren't scheduled to move in until the Spring of 2012. SPC President Kelvin Sharp says the extra space is really needed. "We had a waiting list and we needed to accommodate more students; so we know there was some growth opportunity," said Sharp.

Sharp says the addition will allow them to move students out of older residence halls to make renovations to those buildings.

This is the first new residence built on campus since 1981.
