Source: Lamesa Press ReporterLUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - One person from Welch dies after a head-on collision Saturday morning north of Lamesa.
According to Midland DPS, 55-year-old Carmelita Vela Gaitan of Welch was southbound on Highway 137. A pickup headed southbound on Highway 137, driven by Tanner Ray Osborn, 24 of Levelland, drove into Gaitan's lane of traffic and collided with her head-on.
The accident happened at 7:25 a.m. Saturday. Speed limit in the area was 70 mph. Osborn was taken to Medical Arts Hospital in Lamesa with broken legs. Gaitan died at the scene of the accident.
