School Board Raises Pay for LISD Teachers

The Lubbock Independent School District Board of Trustees voted unanimously in favor of teacher pay raises at Thursday's board meeting.

Superintendent Wayne Havens announced that the starting salary for teachers will increase from $31,000 to $31,500. Teachers with a year or up to five years experience will receive a $1,000. Teachers with 6 to 15 years experience will receive and additional $250 on top of that. Teachers with 16 years or more experience will receive a $1,750 raise.

The additional money will help make up for a recent state budget cut of health insurance.
