Drink & Drive, Go to Jail!

Texas leads the nation in alcohol-related fatalities. So, with the July 4th holiday coming up, a statewide effort is now underway to stop people from drinking and driving.

The Texas Department of Transportation is sending a strong warning to motorists: "Drink, Drive, Go to Jail!

In the upcoming days, state troopers and local officers will step up enforcement of DWI laws. Penalties for a first offense include $2,000 dollars in fines, up to 6 months in jail, and a driver's license suspension for up to a year.
