Lubbock GOP members in Vegas for political strike force

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - A political strike force from Lubbock & Midland continued its work Sunday night in Las Vegas, Nevada.  Last week we showed video of a phone bank in Lubbock where volunteers are calling on behalf of Republican Candidate Sharron Angle.  She's running against incumbent Democrat Harry Reid.

Additionally, ten adults from Lubbock, and two adults from Midland and a handful of kids made the trip to Las Vegas to lobby voters on behalf of Angle.  The adults are making calls while the kids stuff envelopes.

Lubbock GOP Chairman Chris Winn told KCBD NewsChannel 11 in a Skype video interview from Las Vegas that the election is about two things; unpopular healthcare reform is the first.

"The second thing this election is about is jobs, and the fact that this administration and this Congress have not succeeded in getting this economy back on track," Winn says.

So how is it going for Lubbockites working the phones in Las Vegas?  "It's going well," says volunteer Ruth Schiermeyer.  "We have a lot of hang-ups but most of them are very receptive."

Recent polls have shown Angle with an advantage over Reid.
