Funeral services pending for detention officer killed in Saturday accident

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Funeral services are pending for the Lubbock County Detention Officer killed Saturday morning. Tommy Lamkin, 36. died when another vehicle hit his pickup truck on the Interstate near 50th Street.

Police say the other driver, 40-year-old Kelly Lewis, lost control of her pickup, veered into oncoming traffic and hit Lamkin's truck on the driver's side.

Lewis remains in serious condition at University Medical Center. Lamkin leaves behind a wife, an 18-year-old son and a 12-year-old daughter.

A memorial fund has been set up at the First Convenience bank in his wife's name, Tanisha Lamkin.
