Cause not determined for fires along I-27 and the South Loop

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Firefighters don't know yet what caused a series of fires along I-27 and the South Loop.

Around 11 a.m., firefighters responded to at least three locations near the interchanges between the Interstate and the South Loop. The fire department says any number of other things could have caused the fires.

The fire department asks everyone to be extra cautious because of it is so dry.

One of the fires burned a pickup truck, beyond that, we don't have damage estimates yet.

Police were called out to help with traffic control because of smoke drifting across the roadways.
