Fire rekindles, destroys what was left of home before family could salvage anything

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - A Lubbock family is asking for your help after a fire last week destroyed their home.

Investigators say the cause of the fire on October 27th appears to be accidental. The family hoped to recover at least a few items but the fire rekindled and destroyed all that was left. "Six o'clock in the morning, I came home, thank God nobody was home, and my whole house was on fire," said Amy Pierce.

Amy and her children have been staying at a local hotel. "All I know is we're out of a house, and I had just barely got this house, had it paid for, and everything, and now I have to start all over again."

The family hopes that someone can help them get a roll off dumpster. "It's only me and my three kids, and we don't have any clue one how to go about starting over or cleaning up."

If you would like to help, you can call 806-632-5311. There is also a donation bucket at the Rip Griffin on Idalou Highway.
