City and Former Police Office Facing Lawsuit

The City of Lubbock and one of its former police officers are being sued. The lawsuit is by Latoya White, a woman arrested almost two years ago by former officer Nicholas Medina. Medina arrested White on charges of criminal trespassing.

In her lawsuit, White claims Medina used excessive force when he illegally arrested her and then falsified the police report pertaining to her arrest. Medina was fired from the police force for using excessive force, making an illegal arrest and later falsifying the police report. He appealed his firing and won back his job, though he resigned last month to move to Florida.

White is seeking at least $50,000 in monetary relief for damages.
