CORPUS CHRISTI (KCBD) - Everyone knows how big football is in Texas, that is why we can all appreciate a little trickery on the field. During Saturday's championship game, Driscoll Middle School quarterback Jason Garza pulled off an incredible trick play.
Garza pretended that the officials mis-marked the ball that it needed to go five yards further down field. So he picked up the ball and calmly walked through the defense. Then he ran 67 yards for the touchdown.
"In practicing the play we even said there's going to be two results of the play, either Jason's going to be hit really hard by a linebacker or safety or he's going to get a first down or a touchdown, for us thank goodness it was the latter," said John De Los Santos, Assistant Coach who thought up the plan.
The game ended with a 6 to 6 tie.
