LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - NewsChannel 11 Sports Director Pete Christy has confirmed through multiple sources that long time Coronado head football coach Butch Henderson has been fired from his coaching position.
The Mustangs finished 3-7 this year and did not make the playoffs.
The Lubbock Independent School District has released the following statement:
"Lubbock ISD can confirm media reports that Coronado Head Football Coach Butch Henderson will no longer be the head football coach/campus athletic coordinator. He will continue in his role as a math teacher for the 2011-12 school year. Coach Henderson has made many positive contributions to the lives of student athletes at Coronado High School. He is a dedicated and caring individual."
