Posted: Updated:

ALBUQUERQUE, NM (KCBD) - Albuquerque Police say a Lamesa teenager died while attempting to rob a suspected drug dealer. Authorities tell the NBC affiliate in Albuquerque that Christian Maldonado died on October 28th.

They say Maldonado and Sharokski Jackson set up a meeting under the pretense that Maldonado wanted to buy marijuana from Nathaniel Williams, but investigators say they actually planned to rob Williams.

They say Maldonado got into a vehicle with Williams and pulled a gun, but then Williams pulled his own gun and shot Maldonado. Authorities arrested Williams. He is charged with Murder, as is Jackson.

Police say while Jackson did not pull the trigger, he faces a murder charge for setting up the robbery.

Maldonado was laid to rest on Thursday. According to his obituary, Maldonado grew up in Lamesa and attended school there until the 8th grade before moving to Albuquerque.
