Southbound West Loop 289 bridge at 19th Street demolished Monday

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is scheduled to begin the demolition of the existing 19th Street southbound bridge and construction of the new structure on Monday, November 15.

Both east- and westbound lanes of 19th Street will be closed to traffic beginning Monday. The road closure will continue through Friday, November 19, to allow construction crews to remove the bridge structure.

Detours will be put in place to move traffic through the construction zone. Motorists are advised to slow down and observe posted detour information.

Both east- and westbound SH 114 (19th Street) through traffic will be detoured around the area via the Loop frontage roads. Westbound 19th Street traffic will be detoured to the Frankford Avenue u-turn. Eastbound traffic will be directed to 34th Street.

Work will take place weather permitting.
